
Move Ohio, LLC is a bipartisan firm dedicated to creating essential connections between stakeholders and elected officials at the local, state and federal levels. The firm, founded in 2004, focuses on building support for critical policy issues and helping clients, including business groups, trade associations and unions, navigate and communicate at all levels of government.
Move Ohio LLC is led by Michael (“Mike”) T.W. Carey, a driven, experienced, results-oriented leader. He has a diverse background that includes military service, political campaign strategy, fundraising, trade association management, legislative relations and public policy advocacy.
Carey has particular expertise in leading and implementing state, regional and national issue advocacy campaigns. His experience includes advising candidates and coalitions; directing grassroots, web-based and multimedia resources; and mounting comprehensive outreach to constituencies. He has led numerous coalition building efforts that involve the formation and utilization of federal 527 campaigns.
Carey has served both as a staff member and as a volunteer for several officials. He has held several staff positions in Congressional offices, where he acted as a liaison between the office and other government agencies and was responsible for management of the district staff.
His experience also includes demonstrated results in campaign fundraising. Move Ohio raises funds for candidate campaigns, political action committees, and issue-advocacy campaigns. Mr. Carey also advises organizations on how to grow Political Action Committee (PAC) funds.
Mr. Carey has a keen understanding of the military, and he is well-suited to execute successful campaigns targeting this key constituency. Carey received his commission to the U.S. Army Reserve / National Guard in 1991 and served until 1999. His service included an active duty tour in 1993 in Honduras. He is a recipient of the Joint Service Achievement and the Humanitarian Service Awards.
Mr. Carey received an Associate of Science degree in economics from the Marion Military Institute and his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the Ohio State University.
Mr. Carey currently sits on the Board of Directors on the Capitol Square Review, the Foundation for Appalachia Ohio, and is a member of the Ohio Commodores – an organization that is dedicated to advancing trade opportunities for Ohio companies. He is a resident of Granville, Ohio, where he lives with his wife Kristin and their son Prescott.
